Captain Jake was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, where the water has always been a central part of his life. Surfing, diving, fishing—you name it—the ocean has been a constant presence. He was fortunate to grow up with parents who encouraged him to spend time outdoors, and that early connection with nature shaped his entire adult life. It’s safe to say that Captain Jake is at his best in the great outdoors. From childhood adventures camping with his family by boat on remote islands around Wilmington to being dropped off by helicopter on Alaska’s rugged Pacific coast with five flights of gear and no structures in sight, he has always thrived in wild, untamed places.
Captain Jake’s passion for sight fishing began as a kid, walking the beaches with his father and only casting when they saw red drum in the waves. Those early experiences molded his fishing style and instilled a deep respect for the process. For him, it’s not about numbers—it’s about patience, precision, and teamwork, blending the thrill of hunting with the art of fishing.
Time slows down on the water, and every day becomes something to be grateful for. Captain Jake strikes a perfect balance between patience and enthusiasm, offering guidance to anglers of all skill levels. His goal is to educate, teach, and ensure every trip is a safe and enjoyable experience—no matter how the fish or weather is acting that day.
