FLY AND LIGHT TACKLE

Sight Fishing The Cape Fear Coast

poling skiff, flats skiff, fly fishing, inshore, red drum, boat, inshore charter fishing

We fish an Edisto Boatworks technical poling skiff. We use this boat for exactly what it was designed to do, find the fish skinny. At 19ft, anglers have a very stable and spacious skiff without sacrificing draft. Boasting an 8ft bow, this dance floor can accommodate two conventional gear anglers at the same time with ease or give the fly angler ample space for fly line management. The spacious bow storage is very nice when running camping trips because you can keep all of gear free of the deck while fishing.

This is a shallow water sight fishing operation. We will not be anchored up, pinning mullet to the bottom. There will be no live bait or live well on board. We are constantly on the move, whether it's poling around the shallows or running in-between spots. Sight fishing isn’t the easiest way to catch a fish, and we often work hard for our fish but for shallow water enthusiasts, the reward is incomparable.

Our trips won’t start and end on the exact time window described when booking. While we aim to stay in these windows; Jake isn’t the guy out here with a stopwatch and a whistle.

Our focus year-round is red drum. We will still have shots at flounder busting on bait during the negative low’s; the occasional laid up trout way back in a creek hole or find sheepshead and black drum tailing on a flood tide. However, red drum are the main event! To be successful in this style of fishing accuracy is important.

100% Independent Guide: In today’s charter landscape, third-party booking sites/agents are having a significant impact on the industry. Many customers unknowingly pay steep commissions, while also missing out on the experience of connecting directly with the captain to ensure the best possible customer service.
